Shane Faubert’s Demo Page
Since just before the formation of the Cheepskates I have been making demos, and it’s time for the lo-fi, unproduced and somewhat naked Shane to appear in public. You can now download mp3s of my demos… play ‘em, trade ‘em, cover ‘em, make ‘em sound better, burn them onto CDs and give them to your friends. Do what you will with them – I just want this stuff out there… maybe some of you will be inspired enough to make your own demos and put them where we can all hear them. Goodness knows your recording setup will be better than mine was! That said, some of this stuff is pretty good.
For you completists out there… “real” studio versions of all but four of these songs eventually ended up on some kind of release by either the Cheepskates or Shane Faubert. “Boyfriend’s Heart” and “No” were admirally covered by the Masticators and the Tryfles (respectively). “C’Mon” and “So Do I” have never shown up anywhere before… have they?
In my browser, clicking on the file plays it in a new window, right clicking begins the download process. Your mileage may vary.
Hi Shane!
So generous of you to share these! Thank you!
As far as I know, C’Mon was actually released on Swedish flexidisc given by a Swedish magazine in the 90s. I know this because a friend from Sweden sent me a cdr of it looooong ago, which I even used in a compilation called SOTT made by the Audities list (perhaps you know what I’m talking about). And, definitely, it’s not the same version that you’ sharing here, and it’s longer. When the songs seems to end, it goes on with the chorus “Love me love me love me love me….”
Best wishes!

Wow. I had forgotten about this completely. I have no idea when “C’mon” was recorded by the Cheepskates (or what it might even sound like), but the “Love Me” tag you speak of was a separate recording that I DO remember. It was a song (of sorts) titled “Love Me 26x” and was just that: me singing those words over and over. I haven’t heard either of these in a VERY long time! Thanks for giving me some info about them.
Good post, found you on AOL and glad I clicked. Keep up the nice job!
