One of the reasons I really love ABBA is the way they oh-so-sweetly butcher the English language. “Is” becomes a delightful “iss”, Hawaii becomes something that sounds like “huhwhy”… the phonetic successors to the Shocking Blue.
I also loved the girls’ cat dresses (seemingly re-made into shirts some time later because they obviously didn’t have the money for new costumes), although they weren’t wearing them anymore by the time this record came out.
Have I mentioned yet that whenever I had a particularly wild night (and predictably wobbly morning) ABBA was the only thing that could get me on my feet?
That’s why I love ABBA.

All of the post-comeback Ringo records are good ones – nothing on them is bad, and there are usually a couple of standouts.

Great songs, great band playing at their best, great singer…
This one probably has to be up there as one of the best Christmas records ever made – no surprise, because Buck Owens almost always did everything right.

I remember the day I bought this one. For weeks I had known of its existence and I knew I needed to have it, but the record store never got it in – or so I thought.
Albums were kept in bins sorted by artist with labeled white plastic separators, and I had been searching through the “M” section for it, which seemed prudent until the day I was looking through “Z”s and found today’s album in a bin labeled “Philman Zanera”.
Lesson learned: when dealing with the obscure, assume misunderstanding.
A great album by the way, with lots of good otherwise unavailable Eno and Robert Wyatt performances.
