As an adult I’ve listened to a lot of Jamaican music but it’s hard to “get” music that you didn’t grow up with (for me that would be country, surf, rockabilly, Motown, British Invasion and all of the sub-genres that followed).

Here’s hoping that listening to the roots of a particular style of music (thank goodness “Pioneer” was in the title of this one or I wouldn’t have known) will afford greater appreciation of what came later.

Just for the record, I pretended to be 10 years old while I listened to this… played with baseball cards and read comic books.
